Assistant Project Manager - Renewables in GB-Lanarkshire-Glasgow, United Kingdom

Woods Renewables business is a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy specialising in renewable energy. We provide engineering, technical and project management solutions to all major renewable energy technologies. Our capability encompasses all phases of project development; from the early stages of site selection, feasibility and design, through to project management of the construction phase, and site operation and maintenance.

To date we been involved in hundreds of gigawatts of renewable energy developments internationally, and are currently involved in the development of some of the worlds largest renewable energy developments.

Owing to high demand for our services, the company is seeking to recruit an Assistant Project Manager to join our Project Delivery Team to support the delivery and development of our Owners Engineer services.

This role is to support the delivery of development, technical advisor and/or Owners Engineer projects through their feasibility, pre-construction and/or construction phases. The initial focus of this role is expected to be construction phase onshore wind but may also include involvement in solar, storage and hybrid projects, in any project phase.

The principal responsibilities of this post include:

  • Ensuring health, safety and environmental considerations are integral to the delivery of projects and project tasks
  • Administer and provide project management support to a global range of multi-disciplinary renewable energy project
  • Interface with a team of specialists to progress and deliver renewable energy projects through feasibility, pre-construction and construction phases
  • Progress project in accordance with pre-defined budgets, deadlines and quality requirements
  • Regularly and accurately report the status of projects to Clean Energys management
  • Lead the delivery of small projects
  • Contribute to the development of technical schedules of EPC, BoP, TSA and MSA contracts
  • Contribute to Invitation to Tender, tender evaluation and contract negotiation processes
  • Support interfacing with contractors, monitor and report on contractors progress and compliance with their contracts
  • Contribute to business development activities and assist in securing new projects and opportunities for the company
  • Support drafting of robust proposals for submission to our clients
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments and opportunities, and share that knowledge and experiences to other team members
  • Participation at site visits and meetings in the UK and abroad


Skills / Qualifications

  • Knowledge or experience in project management for a renewable energy technology development
  • Degree level qualification or above in engineering, technical or science-based subject
  • Project management skills and proven experience of cost-control, issue, risk, opportunity and programme management
  • High levels of initiative, thoroughness, organisation and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage own time and prioritise workload to allow timely delivery of tasks
  • Ability to prepare and write high quality concise documents to convey project progress, status and financial information to internal and external project stakeholders
  • A flexible and proactive approach to completing work
  • Valid driving licence for use with in UK
  • Willingness for occasional worldwide travel
